Well, here I am, mongoose mom.  Been threatening to begin blogging for awhile now, and I’m finally taking the leap into the water.  I’m a mom of three under 7, one with special needs.  I’m a thinking woman who loves to read.  I value friendship and honesty, the down to earth real stuff life is made of.  i hate superficiality or trying to be somebody I’m not.  I have a passion for truth and for finding more of it in my life.  I homeschool my special needs 7 year old, and I counsel teenagers at a high school nearby one day a week.  I’m in the process of “throwing out the old and bringing in the new” as far as it applies to what is real truth and what is a bunch of church and cultural tradition.  Living in the Bible belt makes that a very interesting task, as I feel pretty darn sure we are about 30 years behind the rest of the nation culturally and socially speaking. Oh, and my husband’s comment when I told him I’m starting to blog was,  “Oh no.”   He never knows what will come out of my mouth, and that can make him a bit uncomfortable, though I think it keeps things shaking.

So, I’m pretty excited about using this as a place to vent, process, share, and meet friends.  More to come soon!

For now, signing off,

Mongoosemom

  1. Have you ever seen a Mongoose and a Cobra go at it? I saw it in India. Pretty amazing.

  3. Hey, I couldn’t find your email address on here, but I wanted to let you know that you might need to check your settings b/c I keep getting your post “A Tender Heart” in my Google Reader every time you publish something. I think I’ve gotten it about 6 times! Not sure what that means, but I just wanted to let you know! =)

  5. Sweet friend,
Here’s the story in a nutshell. A wonderful woman I really admire and look up to, an author I knew in Colorado that year of grad school, came to speak in Decatur a couple of years back. After seeing me interacting with the other women at church and hearing their comments, she told me, “You’re a mongoose.” I was a bit confused, but she explained that a mongoose seems sweet and furry and cute, but it kills SNAKES! I took it as such a high compliment that I made it my email address, etc. Her name is Sharon Hersh.
So glad you enjoy the site!!!
    Love you,
    Me
